BMCC Knapsack Park POM Update Print E-mail
Saturday, 03 July 2010
To all Blue Mountains Football Club members ... help fix Knapsack Park !
YOUR LOBBYING IS REQUIRED – CHANGE COUNCIL’S MIND REGARDING KNAPSACK PARK
COUNCIL RESPONDS TO PEOPLE POWER

*** AN UPDATE (3 August 2010) ***

Well, it seems that our Ward 4 Councillors are still receiving correspondence regarding Knapsack Park.  A BIG thank you to all club members for contacting Councillors with positive comments - your messages have been heard!

We appreciate the positive actions of Councillors in rejecting the Council report that was presented at their 29 June 2010 meeting and in calling for a meeting with the club to hear our concerns.

In this regard, a meeting is being held between the club and Council on Thursday night at 7:30pm at Knapsack Park (5 August 2010) to discuss the Council report that was prepared - we'll be putting our club's position to Council and seeking a greater commitment by Council for improvements at Knapsack Park.

Our club will also need to commence its redevelopment plans at Knapsack to coincide with a time line, over the next few years, that is developed in unison with any Council proposal.

*** end ***

Many members will be aware that Blue Mountains City Council finalized a Plan of Management and detailed Masterplan for Knapsack Park.  Club President, Ian Monaghan, has talked about this regularly.

Item16 of the agenda of Council’s meeting on Tuesday, 29 June 2010 recommended Council remove the cricket wicket from Glenbrook Oval and install it between the football fields at Knapsack Park.  (Click here to read the Item 16 report).  It also recommended that Council not allocate any other money to any other improvement works at Knapsack Park.  Our Ward 4 Councillors have supported our Club by having the report deferred so as to allow further consultation between the Club and Council.

It is time for all Blue Mountains Football Club members to call & e-mail these councillors and tell them that you want the works to be carried out ... and ask why Council is proposing to not do any work at Knapsack Park when the field and car park are in such poor condition.

Our club can only change Council’s mind if EVERYONE lobbies our Ward 4 Councillors.  For anyone outside Ward 4, call your local Councillors and tell them as well!

Send an e-mail to Council at their BANG THE TABLE contact address on the website www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au.

IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, NO MONEY WILL BE VOTED FOR ANY WORK TO BE DONE AT KNAPSACK PARK.
